Effective General Supervision

Overview

SPP/APR Indicators 15, 16, and 18 focus on a state’s general supervision responsibilities as well as its capacity to ensure compliance with IDEA requirements. These indicators help states focus on accountability, address noncompliance, and promote ongoing improvement for special education programs.

The SPP/APR submission must be accompanied by an introduction that includes details about the state's general supervision, technical assistance, and professional development systems, as well as the state's mechanisms for broad stakeholder engagement and public reporting.
