To the Summit: Our SPP/APR Summit 2024 Recap

by the IDC Buzz Staff

November is quickly coming to a close, and that can only mean one thing: the SPP/APR season is upon us! For the third year in a row, IDC hosted our SPP/APR Summit, where SEA staff from across the country came together to collaborate and plan as they prepare to submit their next SPP/APR.

Two Days Packed With Information

Held this year from November 19–20 in Bethesda, Maryland, we were thrilled to welcome some 140 attendees from 53 states, territories, and outlying areas to participate in two days packed full of learning, networking, and conversation. Each year, we spend time talking with states about their needs and questions in order to design our agenda. As a result, we are able to offer large group sessions that address the most pertinent SPP/APR topics alongside smaller breakout session opportunities that feature more focused learning related to specific indicators or topics of interest.

Mainstage Highlights

At the SPP/APR Summit 2024, four mainstage presentations highlighted actionable strategies and critcial updates for SEAs to use as they prepare their FFY 2023 SPP/APR (due February 2025). This included techniques to turn your SPP/APR into a compelling data story, the opportunity for hands-on learning with SPP/APR case studies, FFY 2023 SPP/APR updates, as well as a full session dedicated to the new Indicator 18.

Digging in With Deep Insights

In addition to these large group settings, our TA providers designed and led Deep Insight sessions dedicated to SPP/APR topics such as stakeholder engagement and successful reporting strategies as well as key indicators, including 3, 4, 8, 9, 10, 17, and 18. Many Deep Insight sessions also included opportunities for hands-on engagement with data and resources for analysis.

Next Steps for Your FFY 2023 SPP/APR

Though this year’s Summit is already in the books, we know that the SPP/APR rush has just begun, and IDC stands ready to offer several more opportunities for help and advice as you prepare your state’s SPP/APR. Beginning next week, we will be offering a series of informal drop-in opportunities via Zoom. During these times, our TA providers will be available to answer any questions you may have as you dig into different indicators. We are also offering one session dedicated specifically to Indicator 18!

In addition, as in years’ past, IDC State Liaisons stand by to provide more formal and extensive SPP/APR reviews. Contact your IDC State Liaison today to schedule your review. We are happy to take a look at some or all of your SPP/APR before you submit it. You can learn more about this review process and what to expect here.
